Core Trem Bar Without the Plastic Tip Possible?

Hmmm... that arm with the groove is supposed to be for arms with tips. The groove is there for plating purposes only.

Here is my Mann trem arm without the tip and in black nickel.

The groove in that one was for plating purposes. I no longer make them in that manner. If you want a new arm with no groove... hit me up. I will send you a new one.

Arm tips are a PIA...
The ones PRS uses are custom molded for him, and they fit great. But Paul won't share with me

I buy them from distributers and nobody makes them with reliable hole sizes. They are usually too large.
Thus I have used various methods to make them stay on the arm. Currently I knurl the end so that it's larger. I use a propane torch to heat the arm up quickly (5-7 seconds) and then press the arm on. One could also put the arm tip in hot water to soften it up.

The easiest way I have found to remove them is to lay the arm flat on my bench vise and hit with a hammer. It shatters the plastic tip off, so wear safety glasses.

I’ve used nearly boiling water. Seems to soften the plastic enough to slide off

Pair of vice grips and you can get the plastic off. I have a Rosewood tip on the one for my custom 24

I ended up using my wife’s hair dryer on the arm tip for 5-10 seconds, and this enlarged the tip just enough to let it easily slip off of the arm.

I’ll keep my eye on those Mann arms for the future, though.

I always tip, even when I use plastic to pay the restaurant tab.
