Core Starla

Just wondering, has anybody on here ever changed pickups on a Core Starla? If so what did you change to? Thanks

I don't have a Starla, but seem to pick one off the wall every time I see one (usually means it's only a matter of time before I buy one). What is it you don't like about the pups?

I have several Starlas, and I wouldn't think of changing the pickups, to me they're the most interesting and best-sounding PRS has ever made - importantly, a perfect match for that kind of guitar.

Agree.

As an interesting side note, there was a PRS artist who needed more agressive pickups in his Starla so the factory made him a set of \m/ pickups in the Starla format.

Yes. \m/arla pickups exist. One set, anyway.

I had one I put some hot PAF style pups in, it was a *KILLER* guitar with the bigsby. I got pics somewhere Ill try and dig up. It was awesome.

Thanks, yeah I really dig the white w/white guard (usually seen w/black guard). I had it but sold it to fund another DGT. LOL, wish I still had it tho.

And dont get me wrong , I dig the Starla pups too but just wanted to experiement with it, but loved how it came out, even more than I was expecting.

I saw a limited run of Starlas (think it was from the Dallas guitar show) where they came with 57/08's. A Starla is next on my list but I'm with the other guys, the standard pup's are what I like so much about it.

Actually if I were to swap my pickups ever (I won't, but let's pretend that the pups in mine failed and I couldn't get any more) - I'd do something in the P90 realm. Would have to be hum-sized I think so wouldn't be exactly P90 sounding but in that general neighbourhood would be nice...

Ill see if I have any vids of it. Seems like a shot a couple, I cant remember.

Its the stock guard.
