I always thought the different pickup selector positions on the Core Custom 24 were identical between the older ones that use the 5-way rotary versus the current ones that use the 5-way blade. But I've seen a few threads/comments suggesting that there is a difference. Ie, maybe with the rotary's there was more of a volume drop when going from one of the humbucker positions to one of the single coil based positions. Putting aside differences in pickups between older and newer models, are the 5 switching options identical between a rotary and a blade on a Core Custom 24?

Nope, several differences. For example, on a rotary, you don’t have the traditional 2 humbuckers. Blade has 2 inside single coils; rotary has 2 outside single coils. A few other differences as well. Here’s the current CU24 blade switching:

And from some other recent posts about the rotary positions:
  • Position 10: Treble pickup
  • Position 9: Outside coils- deep and clear - parallel
  • Position 8: Series single coils – Warm version of the "in between the treble and middle pickups"
  • Position 7: Parallel single coils – Crisp version of the "in between the treble and middle pickups"
  • Position 6: Bass pickup

Thanks! Very informative. I had thought that the rotary had the same setup as in the image you posted. Good to know. This adds a justification for me owning both a rotary cu24 that I just picked up and the blade cu24 I have had for a few years!
