Hello all, I am new as a member but have read threads for a while, I bought my first prs in 2014, a brand spanking new custom 24.

So I am looking to get into a 7 string and am wondering does anyone here think a core 7 string is on the horizon for 2020? I know they just released the Holcomb 7 se and I have no doubt it will be a great guitar but personally I would rather have a core 7 string. Anyone have any thoughts or perhaps “inside” knowledge? thanks and all the best. God Bless

A couple years ago I email to PRS, asking if there'd be SE Holcomb 7 strings or not. They said they had no plan for that.
A year ago I bought an SE SVN, thinking that this willl be the only PRS with 7 string.
A month ago PRS proved me wrong with the launch of SE Holcomb SVN.

Hence to answer your question, I'd say it is possible if PRS sees a strong market potential. And the born of SE Holcomb 7 leads me to guess PRS extended range guitar is growing.
Maybe in the next few years there'll be core CU24-7 with hardtail bridge, who knows...

Thanks guys, I may end up going with a Holcolmb 7 seeing that it is cheaper and there may never be a core 7 string. Of course if there ever is one that would be AWESOME!!!! My custom 24 is absolutely fantastic.

It's very doubtful though Holcomb has his own core sig model, and I've also see Mike Mushok playing a core 7 string. They are likely one offs. Would be interesting to see!

Yeah they are private stocks, they have some gorgeous 7 string private stocks but unfortunately those will always be out of reach for me.

First one I ever remember seeing was Wes Borland's red 7 PS from way back. Wanted that thing so bad.

I had to stray from the brand for my 7, since I knew it would have to be Private Stock without a doubt. Like everybody else, I think it'll be a long shot as a standard thing.

Yeah, I don't think we'll see a Core 7 string outside of an artist model, maybe as a limited release? Outside of Private Stock, the SEs are your best option.

That satin walnut is sweet, had me drooling a bit and I don’t even want a seven string!

Now that I think of it, there was a guy on sevenstring org that had a black one off 7 all hog model... I think he was located in Germany.

I totally forgot about that guy. I think his was an Artist Relations guitar.
