I started my electric guitar journey with Sire guitars, and I still like the ones I have... BUT I purchase an SE NF3 last year, and it seems that's all I play these days. :)

Recently I've been lusting after an SE Custom 24-08, and am trying to get a sense of the difference between its TCI"S" pickups and the Narrowfield DD's on the NF3. I listen to videos, and scrounge YouTube to look for a head-to-head pickup comparison, but haven't found one. (Note: I buy all my guitars from Sweetwater, so "go play them" is not an option. I don't take advantage of brick and mortar stores for trying instruments, only to buy at Sweetwater.)

Any and all info appreciated, thanks! 🙏

I get that on one level. But if it is an option, you are missing an opportunity to develop a relationship with a community that likely exists around your local dealer. No harm in meeting people you might like.
If I try out guitars in a store but don’t buy one, I don’t hesitate to pick up some accessories as a way of providing some form of business to them. There have been plenty of times I have bought something interesting that I would not have searched for in an online store. I admit , this could be a bad thing if you are trying not to collect more music gear.

@aenlic,

One of the possible solutions is to visit a local music store as part of your fact-finding research. Typically a shop which sells not only new gear, but used as well. If there is something at that store that intrigues you, you can always calculate your costs and head home without any purchase at all. That way, if what you're really trying to find pops up somewhere online, you can be ready to purchase then.

The reason for my suggestion is that you'd not need worry about going in whole-hog with a purchase from the Mom & Pop Store, only to return the item within the grace period. Many times, patience is its own reward. Diligent research with the internet's search engines is not only something you learned to do in college, it's useful for finding all sorts of stuff nowadays you thought never existed.

Case in point, like you, I also just purchased a new PRS SE NF3 recently from a place in Minnesota. Sight unseen. Only thing that I needed do was check the guitar's condition and weight, 7.6 lbs. I knew what I wanted (Strat body, single-coil tones with Humbucker 60 Hz squelch.)

Plz feel free to check these folks out. Great website presence, easy navigation, easy checkout process.

Thanks both. One added factor that I didn't mention is that the nearest shop with any inventory to speak of is a LONG way away... but thanks anyway.
