I play drums in my band. My guitarist is one of the best natural players I've ever heard; it is unfortunate that he and the bassist are shy, because it would be great if people could hear him. Anyway, a couple days ago a track we dabbled with is Jeff Beck's Come Dancing. We've played it from time to time.... This time he played drums and I played guitar. And I was ok, but not quite sounding as good as he does routinely. So I spent a bit of time this morning just playing through the I- to b6 major change for awhile.... and the key is whole tone scales! I was trying to bounce between those two chords along with the usual accidentals, but if you play minor blues with transitions to whole tones it just opens up. Throw in the pitch shift pedal an octave down, and it's instant Beck.

I'm looking forward to our next session. :)

The never ending joy of discovery is why I love playing.

I only got into Beck within the last few years, and have yet to learn any of his tunes. I'll have to give that one a try.
