Was thinking of taking the family to Colorado in April, anyone know of a good resort or rustic cabin experience type place that is family friendly for a thirteen year old? Not a hotel, but not a cabin in the woods...trying to get some nature in without boring the crap out of my wife and daughter with isolation......any place like this exist in CO?

You may want to check out Homeaway.com. I used this site last year for a trip to the Black Hills. Found a great house/cabin about 10 miles outside Rapid City. Close enough to civilization, but totally inthe hills. We're renting another place through Homeaway for a trip to Gettysburg next month. Most of the places you just need to bring toiletries, and buy some food in the area. Totally stocked kitchens, etc. The place in SD even had bikes, fishing poles, tennis rackets, golf clubs, etc etc for people to use. I may never stay in a hotel again.

You didn't say where in Colorado, but here's a sample.

We went to Breckinridge this past summer. The town is a place for the family to eat and shop and the usual stuff, but the mountains and all of nature is around. We went hiking and white water rapids and it was just a great place to be.

I second Breckenridge and also beaver creek. White water rafting, ice skating at night in beaver creek and you can rent mountain bikes and take the ski lift up the mountain and ride down. Be sure to go 40 minutes west to glenwood caverns. Panning for gold, rock climbing, hot springs, the caverns there are awesome and you can zip line and ride down the mountain in a bobsled. My kids loved it and I have two girls. They still talk about that trip. Also went horse back riding. We stayed at the Hyatt Beavercreek though. But you can rent cabins and condos too. Good luck
