I understand, from the above, that certain materials outgas, especially man made stuff? Now, I wonder about the tubular foam stuff they use on guitar stands and racks. While it seems to be widely used I see there are a lot of cases of stands damaging a guitar in some way or other. There's one I read where a guy had covered the foam bits with a cloth then put his guitar in the stand and it had marked the finish. To me that says that something is leaching through to the guitar even through the cloth. I personally haven't had an issue but I was just interested in case anyone had had an experience like this?
