Hi all. I have my Purple Hazel 408 that has the white pickup rings. The knobs are clear plastic and the bridge is hybrid. I was planning on changing the ring to black, but then my wife says "clear ones would be great because they would not detract from the quilt top, or even chrome ones to match the bridge and reflect the top. What are your thoughts on that? Are such things made for the 408??

Well if they DO exist, it's definitely something to try!!

But I would guess that it might look weird because of the way the light acts around edges and rounds of a clear plastic part...

Also, most (completely) transparent plastics are very sensitive to some chemicals (including chemicals found in hand lotions, maybe even sweat. Alcohol is a real killer!) when the material is being strained (like the screw and spring of a pickup frame). But I don't know if it would be a problem.

Michael. True, one would have to be careful to avoid stress cracks. Perhaps plexiglass with chrome or nickel plated screw inserts.

How can it be that Sergio doesn't have at least one set of pickup rings made of crystal? :dontknow:

Maybe it's just me, but I think clear rings kind of defeat the purpose. Namely cover up the raw edge of the pup cavity.
You'd see the screw holes, and the edge of the pups plus adjusting springs, etc.
Often what is hidden is more desired.
