i had an A string break on the guitar I was playing last weekend. I normally can get two shows out of a set of strings so I thought it deserved a closer look.

Being 51, my eyesight isn't as sharp as it used to be so I took a close up pic of my saddles and could see ridges from the string windings on D A and E saddles.

I cleaned them up with my micro file set and emery cloth.

I noticed a lot of "stuff" on all the saddles so I cleaned them all with emery cloth. I am curious if I can tell a difference tonight, maybe more sustain or more brightness.

This guitar is a 1997 so I wonder if a person should do this on a regular basis? New saddles?

Also, I use my phone to take pics of all 6 fulcrum screws with strings removed. I can enlarge photo to see the smallest differences in screw height. Just something I do.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to our gig tonight. Should be a lot of people there and my wife is going. She is ready to cut loose a little bit so that could get interesting

Have a great Saturday night all of my forum brothers and sisters!

Being only a year older, I sometimes do that when we're in a dark restaurant with small script font menus. The light on my phone comes on and, if I forgot my cheater glasses, take a pic. It's just a tool...just use it and don't apologize. And get off my lawn. :p

Well, since I'm only 49, I'll say youze guys is old. Giggles at the gramps! :D
