It's time to restring the beast. What should I use to clean the neck and fingerboard of my NF3? It has the satin-ish finish Pattern Regular (= greatest neck ever!). My other PRS guitars have gloss necks and rosewood, so I know what to use on them. Not sure about the best thing for this finish.

I also have a maple neck NF3. When I have changed strings in the past, all I have done is take a slightly damp (moistened with water) cloth and wipe the neck off with it. Then I use a dry cloth to wipe the neck dry. The PRS NF3 maple neck is finished, so there is no need for any kind of fretboard cleaner. So far, so good.

Hope you like playing your NF3 as much as I like mine.

There are many ideas re; the care of maple fretboards and necks. This reply is as sensible as any that I have heard.

Yeah, surely just a (slightly) damp cloth for any guitar...?

What would you use to treat a maple and ebony fingerboard? I hear lemon oil is a no-no for maple fretboards. Ebony can get dry so want to treat that at some point.

yes, just moist, not wet.

I've never 'treated' a maple fingerboard with anything, just keep it clean. The SAS I've had for 15 years never needed more than cleaning, though it does show wear.

Ebony won't dry nearly as fast as rosewood, but when it does I use I tiny bit of lemon oil. Put it on as tiny as possible (a few drops for the whole finger board). After letting it sit to absorb what it needs for half a day, I wipe off any excess and string it up again. My ebony boards go for years before needing anything on them.
