Choosing between 2 McCarty Models.

Buy Both And Sell The One You Like Least Or Keep Both And Be Really Happy.

I grabbed a near mint '98 McRosie earlier this year and bought a new set of 57/08 to put in it. Couldn't be happier with that guitar.
Just the fact that McCs of several configurations have pet names speaks volumes. McSoapy, McRosie, McKorina... McTastic (ok, I made that one up)

I should follow up..

I ended up getting the 57/08. It will arrive tomorrow hopefully.

Most of you saying to get the RW, but of course I went with what I felt I'd be happier with.

It also helped that the price got significantly discounted.

And I know just as much as everyone else here, I'll eventually get a RW neck McCarty anyway:D!!

What sold me on the 1957/2008 was just the cool factor (along with a hefty discount of course):

-6.5lbs (this is a huge plus for me)

- #50 of a 150 Limited Run.

- 10 top quilt (never owned a nice quilt top before)

- Some kind of more rare Mahogany construction (Peruvian??)

- I actually really like the J birds and their subtlety.

- The overall uniqueness/rarity.

There will definitely be a NGD post very soon!

Congrats on the logical conclusion for your wants and needs/desires!
It'll be a great guitar. Can always get a McRosie later (you know you want it...).

Very cool, looking forward to the NGD pics. and 6.5 lbs is crazy!

As proud owner of a cu24 from that same run (see avatar pic) I can only concur they look gorgeous and sound the part.

Peruvian hog seems to be the bees knees (I am told) only available nowadays as a PS option. I honestly don't know, but the guitar surely works as a whole.

NICE!

Congrats On Your New Ride!!

Since You Got Such A Great Deal You Should Quickly Grab The Other One. 🤣

Congrats! I would have went with that choice as well. At 6.5lbs, you are likely getting a super resonant (and comfy) instrument, that coupled with early 57/08's will be a tone and feel machine!

McRosies are are also great, but a full rosewood neck absolutely imparts a unique tonal signature to the guitar that may/may not be your thing. I always encourage trying if you can!
