If you were going to treat yourself to an older McCarty, (both for the same price, and not able to try either in person) which would you choose?

Option 1:

1957/2008 10 top in Cranberry Quilt. 6.5lbs. Limited run of 150 made. Additional back cover signed by Paul.

Option 2.

2005 20th Anniversary 10 top , with Solid Rosewood Neck.( Or any early 2000s Model with a RW neck, not necessarily the 20th Anniversary)

I've played the solid rosewood neck models before and thought they were really great. However the 57/2008 Seems quite special.

Not sure which will be more collectible or desirable in the future. Not that it matters, as I don't plan on selling it.

Tough decision.. I'd personally get the RW neck cause you can always swap pickups, neck not so much. The PRS RW neck really is pretty special feeling to play.

I never buy for resale collectable or future. Guitars are tools to be used and enjoyed today and beyond.

I should add the original 5708 are kinda special but do pop up for sale. They aren't my fav of the 5708 but to many they are. Stellar pickups

I am one of those people so I’d choose that one.

But honestly if I were to be buying a McCarty I’d want an early one with moons, burst, and “McCarty Model” written on the back.

I have one of those McCs with early 57/08 HBs. Not one from the limited series (although I have a CU24 from that run), but from the smokeburst series (2009) that kind of overlapped. The McC has verly low output 57/08 (7.7 and 7.9K wind) and sounds very vintage. Lovely sounding axe.

I might be in the minority, but I'd take the 57/08 cranberry quilt.

Yes, I know that McRosie's are prized around here--I mean, I do like mine--but there's something magical in a lot of PRS's starting in about ~2007 where they got really, REALLY good. I mean, like really good. The McCarty's in particular. Add to that that you're getting the early-run 57/08 pickups (one of my favorite PRS pickups) which are just perfect in a McCarty. That would be a do-all, lifetime guitar right there.
