Hello everyone. I am looking for some help, I am going to be ordering a Tremonti in Charcoal here soon but notice the color varies pretty drastically in pictures online. Does the color lean more towards light grey and black or more towards tan and black? The stick pictures on Sweetwater are what I am looking for but just want to verify this is an accurate representation of the color. Thanks in advance for the help.

FWIW, my charcoal 594 in person looks about the same as the pictures from the dealer on Reverb. The Sweetwater Tremonti photo looks like a lighter example though. I'd assume it will look like it does in the photos.

The top wood makes a huge difference in how it takes the stain. Probably the only color I would buy from a dealer stock rather than order sight unseen as they can differ that much. Some, which I prefer are vivid black and grey, others are more washed out.
This is right on the money.

Yeah that's what I was wondering. I know lighting and maybe using flash on the camera can affect the way a top looks but with no experience with that specific color. I have a green LP that depending on the lighting is either a light lime green or more of a tan tiger finish. The picture when I ordered showed green but when I openned the case it was tan, almost decided to send it back but walked into the bedroom and sure enough green. Hmmm maybe waiting for Sweetwater to restock might be the best option.

Partly this but also charcoal is a sanded back grey black from the looks of it. The more it's sanded, the more wood shows through.
Yes.
The whole top is stained dark and sanded back, possibly repeated. The colour variance is partly the sanding, but more due to the fact the the wood has different density and the less dense wood retains more stain; i.e. the colour goes deeper than you will sand.
All of which means the wood itself plays a big role in the resultant colour variance. The end guitar can't be any whiter than the wood was when it was cut.

Definitely wait to see the specific guitar before you purchase if you’re worried about color variance. I have a charcoal 594 that’s pretty vivid and I’ve seen others that are more subdued. Just depends what look you like.

Awesome thanks guys that is what i will do! Really appreciate the help this is my first time posting and it was the right place to come for advice. The dealer said wait time was about 4 months so either way there is going to be waiting involved. Better to he patient and get the right one.
