I wouldn't be second guessing your choices at all, the CE24 excels at the styles you described, and yes for metal stuff the CE neck is a bit nicer than gloss (S2, core or other wise) imo.
Aesthetically I personally prefer the violin carve to the asymmetrical bevel on the S2s, shallow or not. I have a core custom 22 and the carve is absolutely noticeably different depth compared to my SH CE24 but the CE 24 still looks great and none of that really impacts playability to me
I’d say to stop overthinking and just enjoy your sweet axe when it arrives.
This helped a ton to hear! Thanks for your advice and your positive encouragement, I appreciate it brother.
It's a big purchase for me and I really want to make sure it's the right guitar for me. Hearing your input really brought me some great perspective from another metal player.
Sean, Take a deep breath. You’re getting a great guitar. Like every guitar ever made it will need to be set up for YOU. Sweetwater will set it up to factory specs, but you’re not a factory. If you don’t like the tone, raise or lower the pickups depending on what you want to hear. Until you have it set up (professionally) with your brand of strings, to your liking and play it through your amp, you’re basically pissing in the dark. Remember you have tone controls on the guitar and amp to get your sound. It may take 30 days before you really understand what a fine guitar you’ve bought. Going to Guitar Center will tell you next to nothing about YOUR guitar. Take a chill pill or see a psychiatrist, but CALM DOWN!
Dogrocketp, take a deep breath lol. I think you're the one getting worked up brother

I'm just here asking some friendly questions lol.
Even though checking out a guitar off the rack at GC won't be the same experience as playing the guitar I ordered with my exact strings through my amp, it's not like playing the same model guitar off the rack is going to be like playing a totally different guitar like it's another brand or model completely lol. They'll still be at least in the same Ballpark or realm tone-wise.
Yes, guitars have minor tone differences between different serial numbered guitars of the same model, but it isn't like between two les Paul's one won't sound like a les Paul, or one will sound like a telly or something lol that's just nonsense
Like I mentioned to another member on here, I'm just being cautious because it's my biggest guitar purchase so far.
And when I finally found a CE24 in person after I ordered one, it sucked and the action made the playability terrible, so it was a bad example of how great a CE24 could be. And that made me second guess my decision even more.
Imagine this : you found a great deal on a dream car of yours, and even though it was more than you've ever spent on a car, you splurged and got it. But you weren't able to check out before buying. And then after purchasing it and before going to get it, you see one of the cars you just bought brand new off the lot and it looks like crap and drives like crap, wouldn't you be worried you made a mistake with your choice?
That's where I was coming from.
Not everyone has $3k to toss around without thinking twice lol.
I'm sure you were trying to be helpful and I appreciate the input and tips, but the last part was a bit much and some people could take it as ill mannered. That's just how I was raised though. Kindness first, because you never know what others are going through.
