I love my CE24, everything about it, the feel, the maple bolt on neck, the 85/15 pickups, just a great package. I’ve been on a Singlecut kick lately so I added a SE Santana Singlecut . I like it, but I kinda wish I could get something like a CE24 (or 22) Singlecut. Bolt on maple neck, maple top (my Santana is all mahogany), and I prefer the 85/15 over the TCI “S” pickups. Actually what are the specs of the TCI s pickups? They are good, but I like the clarity and bite of the 85/15 better, although maybe that’s also due to the maple neck?

I’d also like the CE24 Singlecut to have dual volumes and dual tone controls, and a fixed 2 piece bridge. $2k like my current CE would be a fair price. Been looking at the S2 594 lately, but they are of course a fixed mahogany neck. But I might go that route later this year. But if PRS ever decided to build a CE24 Singlecut, I’d be the first in line.

Also, the Gibson LP Classic is at $2k, a nice Singlecut for the money, provided their QC has improved (I’ve heard it’s better). But their lower end LP Tribute is interesting because it has a maple neck, one of the few if only Gibson LP’s to have it. Maybe that additional snap I like in my CE 24?

The LP tribute neck is still glued in, so that’ll take away some of the snap you like. I played a 2020 Classic - finish work was flawless, a really great LP for the price, but it’s far from having any snap, which might have something to do with it being 10 pounds even with weight relief.

The CE is a great guitar, definitely a bit unique in its construction. I wouldn’t hate seeing a single cut version either, with the toggle up top where I prefer it, and separate volume/tone knobs for each pickup.

The weight thing is becoming a slight issue for me. 9lbs or more I avoid. Sweetwater shows you the weight which is nice. Others do too I know. Not many in stock of either Gibson or PRS right now. I wonder why a glued in versus bolt on adds that snap/brighter attack?

Gibson LP Studios tend to be just under 9lbs, slightly thinner body. My Santana is pretty thick, just like a LP at 2”, and it’s not exactly light weight either. Where as my CE is just a bit lighter and quite comfortable.

I saw Paul speak at CME and I think he addressed the 'bolt-on snap' idea and saying he didn't really buy it.
I've always believed that since most bolt-ons are maple necked, that's the difference.

That’s what I think too. If anything I would think a set maple neck would have the most snappy tone with a bolt on mahogany neck the least snap. Which makes me wonder if the GIbson LP Tribute with its set maple neck might be fairly lively.
