Tried a ce24 yesterday… first time I’ve played one, likely since they were core guitars…. Pickups split, middle position & it sounded like a Strat on position #2!!!! I was floored. Had no clue it would do this…. My DGT & McCarty have zero quack in that middle-split position.

What else might have that quack, similar to a Strat - without having a 5 way & middle pickup? If you’ve seen my other thread, I’m obviously guitar shopping, but not really bonding with this silver sky (which has lots of quack).

Yup. Yup. Yup!

I liked the blue I played, but it was a wrap around blue & I love that natural maple faux binding. So, gotta find a different blue one…

Cu24s have always been able to get that tone. My '06 Cu24AP with HFS/VB pickups a 5-way rotary can get amazing strat and 'super-strat' tones in positions 3 and 4.

It's one of the key reasons so many love the 24 in general ... it's an incredibly versatile guitar and a blast to play.

Absolutely right. I'm always surprised when my amp is dialed in for a strat and I grab a Cu24, nails the tone.

I asked this in my other thread too.... sorry to double post, just figured it might get different answers here.

Pickups/wiring question:

I believe the older ones with the 5 way rotary, allowed you to have inner coils or outer coils.... so, on the new ones - what's selected on the middle coil split position? Inner or outer? Would it be worthwhile to add a mod to select the other coils? I really, really liked that middle/split sound - very quacky, similar to a strat in position 2.
