CE 24 Replacement Pickups - Configuration Question

I picked up this 2002 CE 24 a few years ago and have really struggled with the pickups. A lot of bass, very muddy. I finally decided to do something about it, but now I’m confused. First thing is this generation of CE24 apparently should have the rotary switch, and/or push pull coil tap. Mine has a 3 way toggle switch and no push pull.

Before I motivate myself to take it apart and see what’s in it, is this a normal configuration? What pickups would be in it? Why does it have custom printed on the truss rod cover? Is this a real guitar, or is it all in my imagination…

Assuming I’m not dreaming, any recommendations on pickups to consider for replacement?

You don’t often know what a used guitar’s history is. Somebody changed the controls and put a different truss rod cover on it, along with different knobs.

Sounds like I am taking it apart! Tried the lazy route.
