Hi there! I bought my PRS from guitar center back in 2008 and was hoping the PRS community can identify the year. I believe this is a bolt on CE 24 from 1993. Thanks for the help! https://www.dropbox.com/s/goauc2y6h9l7dax/1923408_545616922239_1569_n.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/fz8958hp2beo3s2/1923408_545616927229_1922_n.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/a0q3o48rcv2lflw/1923408_545616937209_2415_n.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/6u65udtnqykahmz/1923408_545616942199_2663_n.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/c4epz7mgcic8ug3/1923408_545616952179_3137_n.jpg?dl=0
Nice one! You are correct. 3 = 1993 7 = CE 7585 = sequential number Source: http://prsguitars.com/csc/year.html
Hi Garrett, Thank you so much, especially for the breakdown. I was confused by the first 7. I missed that meaning CE, and have been confused for 9 years!
Crazy, I wasn't aware they were still doing maple fretboards and "Electric" headstocks for that long.
The neck plate may indicate 1993, but my eyes are telling me that's a 1989 CE body and neck. 3 way switch, no black headstock overlay, maple fingerboard. I would suggest taking the back plate off and see what the date codes are on the volume and tone controls. Also, removing the strings and pickups might indicate some other info in the cavities. Been a long time since I've had an early CE, but I thought they had something written inside. Possibly on the neck, but more likely in the lead pickup cavity. Really cool guitar no matter what. BTW, I'm not an expert, but the last 4 digits of the serial number would place it in 1989.
7585 puts it squarely in 1993, per the PRS site. Here's a similar one, 378368. You can see it is dated '93 on the tenon: http://paulreedsmithprs.com/?page_id=2057 From what I'm finding, this shouldn't have been an option in that year. Maybe they had some old stock laying around, or maybe it was a "secret menu" option? Okay one more, then I have to leave this thread. I'm getting gas pains. https://reverb.com/item/3627434-rare-paul-reed-smith-ce24-1993-vintage-yellow-maple-fretboard
Okay, that is massively cool. Was not aware of this. Especially with the older logo on the headstock. And yes, the marking on the neck makes it a definite 93. Wow.
