It’s escalating fast! Can’t stop hunting out PRS guitars on Reverb, EBay etc.
I’ve been more than happy with my CE-24 and SantanaIII for years, yet since buying a DGT about 6 or 7 weeks ago I’ve got serious gas for more.
I’ve just bought (should arrive today) an SE soapbarII for a great price but can’t stop thinking about more to add to the herd.

This appeared on the fretboard.com yesterday and it’s all I’ve thought about since I saw it....how can I afford it, what can I sell to fund it.
£2200 ono....is that a decent price for a 2nd hand Paul’s Guitar in the UK?
Does this sickness ever end:o

That is a great price for a Pauls in the UK - I doubt it will have the new TCI PU's but its still a great guitar - and with a trem too...

Its blue so I wouldn't buy but a Fire Red burst and I would be seriously tempted too. A quilt top as well..... but its blue..... Where is it for sale??? LOL

Not sure I could swing it just now....real life tends to get in the way of gear purchases lol, but I’m so tempted by it. Hopefully someone will grab it first and put me out my misery.

It’s listed on the fretboard forum

I was attempting humour by pretending that I would buy, looking to snap it up before you did but the reality is, I would NEVER buy a blue guitar at all. The pricing though does seem incredible - especially for a quilt top.

I totally understand the 'bug' and fully understand that life gets in the way - I don't need to eat or drink for a few month's do I?? I want both the new Hollowbody 594 and the Special 22 - both in Fire Red Burst (if you hadn't guessed) as well as add some other things like an Amp or two, some pedals etc. Having basically clearing out my Bank Balance back in January on my 'Christmas Present' (lets just say that.... ;):D) on my Hollowbody II which, as you will know, isn't one off the 'cheaper' core models even without a 10top, I am not in a position to buy either of the two guitars I mentioned even if there was one available in the UK in my preferred colour choice.

Spending money on other things will not help me get my bank balance up if/when those guitars come to the UK. Both seem available - at least should be eventually. I have seen a Special 22 in Fire Red Burst for sale in the US and the website says the Hollowbody 594 will be available in that colour too. I doubt I could buy 'both' in the same year, not without selling a LOT of things. Does anyone know where the crossroad is, I have a soul to sell.... Right now, I couldn't buy one anyway so I am not going to buy a £2k Pauls guitar - even if its a Bargain. I can make do (not exactly a struggle) with my 594 for a fixed bridge, 22 fret double humbucking Guitar with coil splitting. Arguably I can make do with my HBii for my HB Guitar with 58/15 LT's - just can't split the coils and its a 25" scale with Pattern neck. I don't have anything that's 'like' the Special 22 - different pups 58/15 MT's and a Narrowfield, semi-hollow etc. The closest is possibly my 509.

As you can see, I too have the 'disease'. I know its a disease because I am forever looking at my bank balance to see how much more I am likely to need, looking at numerous retailers to see if the Guitars I really 'Need' (maybe should be 'want' but its a 'need' in my head) are in the UK, trying not to buy other things I see that still gets added to my wishlist anyway, begrudgingly paying for basic groceries to live on and cursing my dependency on food/drink as its impacting on the amount I can save each month....:D:D:D

Beauty! GAS is a cruel mistress, but spending beyond your means is far worse. A test is to see if there are any guitars you would be willing to sell in order to acquire that one.

She’s a beauty. WA Paul talks sense, but when does that ever enter into a GAS purchase!

But seriously, you’ll make the right choice or find a way to make the deal.

Good luck either way.

This song kind of captures the sentiment in WA Paul’s post and a particular favourite of mine. Apologies for hi-jacking your thread with my musical tastes.

Totally agree,GAS is a *****....I really should pass this one and forget it,I really don’t need another trem guitar just now.I totally love the DGT I got so why go for another similar guitar so soon?
I do have a Les Paul I’d let go but in my head it would be sold for another hard tail guitar ie a McCarty....see this gas thing never stops ha ha.

“What do you think, Dr. Freud? Is it a sickness or a way of life?”

“I would say that the starting point for this investigation is provided by a fact without parallel, which defies all explanation or description--the fact of guitar acquisition. Nevertheless, if anyone speaks of guitar acquisition, we know immediately and from our own most personal experience what is meant by it. The whole position can be clearly seen from the conscious perception of our intellective processes; it is true that these may persist, but they may just as easily pass in a flash. ”

“So you’re saying what?”

“Wanting a particular guitar can last awhile, or can come and go quickly.”

“Why didn’t you just say that?”

“My editor pays me by the word.”
