Can't adjust to Pattern Vintage neck... but only option for 594?

Just before my dealer received it from PRS, I'd gotten a performance royalty check from SESAC. So the timing was good.

The guitar is aging well, and it's become noticeably more resonant. I've made good use of it.

If I hadn't bought it, I'd just have wasted the money on...I dunno...food...or something equally unnecessary. 🤣

You definitely scored on that one! It's practically a clone of the one I wanted to buy

After spending more time with a pattern vintage neck on a 594 I decided to keep it and have learned to really like the neck. :). The “Pattern” neck on my HB II Piezo is still home for me but when I need a LP, I will be reaching for the 594. Thanks for all of the input.

Awesome! Glad you were able to adjust

That Was A Good Run.

I’m glad sometimes I’m not a good player because neck size has never really bothered me. My Reverend z one is super slim; my Les Paul is a baseball bat. *shrugs*

Nicely done sir!
After 15 years or so, and having experienced wide fat, wide thin, pattern regular, and pattern vintage. I love wide fat, but now pattern vintage is home...

Aaaaaannnnd I sold it. I got more used to the PV shape, but just couldn't bond with it the way I do with the Pattern necks. It's funny, I've let some real gems go when the neck wasn't perfect. I just feel like the Pattern profile was made for my hands and the guitar disappears with that neck.

But I'm pleased to say that I just stumbled upon a Private Stock 594 with a Pattern neck instead of a Pattern Vintage. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Basically every spec I care about is there as if I ordered it myself. I'll have it here in a week or so.

That's awesome. Looking forward to your NGD thread

Wow, I guess when you specify temps like that it really narrows it down. Yep, it’s coming from Dave’s in WI.

Good for Dave’s for not shipping it in this weather! I’ve got a poly-finished guitar showing up today. It’s -7f. Gonna let it sit tonight and open it tomorrow.

That’s what I say now. Dollars to doughnuts, I’ll be touching things with the Thermapen and cracking it open before bed.

Wildwood is my favorite shop and is always good about that as well. They prefer not to ship when the weather is too cold, but will ask for your approval to delay shipment.

Meanwhile in Detroit...

at the very least try a DGT , they are MAGIC , that and the Santana I have IMO the best necks .. both of mine are in rosewood which is always a plus. The pattern vintage doewsn't bother me , but I like the slightly narrower and deeper feel.
I have 2 PRS 594’s … bought them new…. I picked them out of many guitars of that model that John Mann had in his store. I noticed that the thickness ect. varied somewhat. Some were thinner, some a little fatter….
Maybe find a store where you can try some out?
FWIW, The core DGTs that I’ve tried have had the same neck specs as mine…
The guitars with Pattern necks seem to vary somewhat as well…

I've owned a few 594's and agree with you that not all necks are identical. One P90 Singlecut 594 core made in 2017 that I owned and sold was abnormally huge up on the higher frets.

I do have a DGT, which I like the neck on a lot. If this 594 with pattern neck doesn't work out for me, I might just consider the DGT my "LP" and be done with it. I prefer the 25" scale now anyway and definitely prefer the PRS double cut body over all others.

I agree 100% that all PV aren't created equal. I tried and tried to gel with a 594. Very few did I find the neck comfortable..there were some though. Oddly I matched with more S2 over core. Zero scientific evidence to back any of that..just feel.

Nice score on the 594 with pattern. Hope it works out!

Interesting you say that @SinSir .. I preferred the 594 necks on the S2’s as well.. probably why I ended up with a DC 594 and a SC 594 both S2’s
