Can you switch a non adjustable wrap around tail piece to an adjustable one?

Thanks Sergio,

Is it a matter of just taking one off and putting the other on, or is it more involved?

I mean, you might have to check the intonation but otherwise there shouldn't be any problems.

Thats why I would do it, to get better intonation. That is what the adjustable gives over the non adjustable, correct? If so, is there any down side to the adjustable? Why would PRS still be using a non adjustable if there is no down side to the adjustable? I always find the middle of the neck slightly off (In intonation) on non adjustable PRS guitars.

Yeah... but unless you're using heavier gauge strings or a wound G the compensated one just plain works. It took me going from a Tonepros adjustable to a USA compensated to believe that myself though, so I can see why you'd be interested in one.

Edit: There may be something "better" about the lack of more moving parts in the compensated bridge.

Thanks Sergio. I really appreciate your help. That is exactly what I needed to know. :)

I've said this before but figured I'd throw my own .02$ in. I've had extensive experience with the Tonepros (hated it), PRS US adjustable (cost ridiculous $, barely ever touched the saddles) and the original stop.

I perfer the original much more. My intonation is fine, and it works way better in my opinion. The Schroder adjustable has always intrigued me but I can't stand the look. They make the guitar look like some kind of Hamer knock off. Again, my somewhat humble opinion.

I just had a Schroeder tailpiece and studs put on a singlecut SE that had leaning posts. It cured all the problems. I'm a looney tune for the Singlecut Se's so I've tried all the different bridges..........Schaller, Tonepros, and Schroeder is my fave. If the posts don't lean I leave it alone. The Schroeder sounds the best of them all. and the shape is perfect for palm muting. They are also extremely nice people.

Im not sure if you guys play a lot of jazz or not, but on each of my PRS with stop tails, and the one I am thinking about buying, the intonation is always off enough to drive me nuts from around the 5th to 12th frets. (major 7ths and augmented chords especially) Even playing power chords (5ths or stacked 4ths) with gain can be a bit off in spots. You can hear it wobbling. I have never had any trouble with my trems which I can adjust. I am interested in a CU 22 semi hollow PS with a stop tail, but I am hearing the same thing with it as with all the ones I have owned, going all the way back to my first PRS. (An Artist 2) I wanted to make sure that if I do decide to pull the trigger on this one ( a big if right now) I would be able to drop on an adjustable if it drives me too nuts. I would not want to have to sell the guitar because of it, and thats what happened on the very last stop tail PRS I owned. Its been all trems ever since.

Again, thanks for the input, and if anyone else has some, I would love to hear it.
