The trick is the B and high E strings. They turn more round the post unless you pull the crap out of the string when you start tightening.

Not to be confused with “wing sniffers”.
I play 9s - 42s and the B & E strings in combination with my failing eyesight and ageing joints are a complete nightmare. Trying to get them to remain in the slot while pulling them tight and turning the tuners at the same time is EXCEPTIONALLY fiddly, to say the least.
