In all fairness, I didn’t watch. That’s how much I dislike Coldplay. Dick VD (- No, the MAN!) is cool though.

Your loss. It's a nice bit of film, conversation with Van Dyke, reminiscences, etc.

I'm inclined to think well of Dick Van Dyke: if his absurd accent in "Mary Poppins" didn't manage to put me off, a bit of Coldplay isn't likely to provoke me either.

Indeed. That was a horrible accent. I saw an interview where he admitted it was the worst accent. Gotta appreciate his honesty.

He's never been all that full of himself.

Accents are hard. You have to have a knack for it, combined with a great ear. Try it; even with a good coach, most can't do halfway well.

But ya know, he wasn't directing that film; he was hired to entertain in the role, and at that he succeeded. It helped the film that Julie Andrews has mega-talent.
