The Mark Holcomb is an amazing guitar and very different to others in the line would love to see it as a standard core models in 2 or 3 finishes

I second that!!! It should be right up in the signature line with the Tremonti!!! Love Periphery...

I'll third that. It's a great guitar, and deserves a core model. I mean, look how infrequently it shows up on the used market. It's also very versatile, I don't use mine for metal at all.

I think the big thing missing would be the pickups -- they'd have to use the bog standard Holcomb set rather than the limited Holcomb set. Y'all would be alright with that, wouldn't you?

Were the pickups in the Core model different from the normal SD Alpha and Omega pups in the SE model?

No I think they are the same
They were a limited edition from Seymour Duncan that you could only get in that guitar and sold separately for a short time but they are so popular they are now a current production model

I never actually got either the pickup set nor the US version of the guitar, but I thought the initial, US run of the guitar came with the initial, hand-wound, limited run of the pickups, including the freebies -- I may be wrong about that, I'm finding zero confirmation with Google -- and the SE version of the guitar came with the production run of the pickups. They are technically the same pickups, that much I'm sure of.

They also come in 7-string and 8-string. (hint hint)

Ya I had heard that PRS is looking at doing a 7 string. Perhaps at that time
They could do another 6string run as they will be getting parts on the 7

To my knowledge, this is correct. The USA Holcomb's came with Alpha/Omega pickups wound in the Custom Shop, while the SE's come with production made Alpha/Omega pickups.
