All other variables being equal, what is the general consensus as which is the "brightest" PRS pickup?

By "bright" do you mean...screaming/searing high frequencies...well balanced high frequencies with equally nice middle frequencies and lows...scooped mids that allow the high frequencies to predominate...I can think of others...?

I'd bet that if you measured PRS' pickups with a frequency response sweep, the high frequency range would be pretty similar across the board, and the differences would come in how the frequencies balance each other out. So it's not just a matter of frequency, it's also a matter of frequency balance, how hot the pickups are, etc.

I find 408s and 85/15s to be very clear, bright pickups. I love 'em. PRS also makes hotter pickups, pickups with different frequency balances, etc.

But...more information is needed. :)

Good points here!! Be as specific as you can.

As the name suggests, the Chainsaw is pretty bright...

I realize this is all subjective, and to make matters worse "bright" to one person can mean something different to someone else. So let me add some more adjectives to muddy things up. I'm looking for pickups that have a cleaner, more bell-like tone. For instance, HFS has been mentioned a couple of times and while it is largely on the treble side, I find it harsh. On the other hand, I find the 57/08 to have a great brassy quality which I greatly prefer to the HFS. I also saw a comparison on YouTube of a CU24 vs a Johnny Hiland and found the JH to have slightly more sparkle to it. I should say also that I'm looking primarily for over driven tones. Thanks again

The Johnny Hiland model has a maple neck which gives the guitar a natural treble spank too. You should watch the pickup shootout. I think CR swaped PRS pickups into the same guitar for a true comparison. It can be found on youtube. Its a labor of love, and a valuable contribition to the PRS world.

Not sure "cleaner, more bell-like" and overdriven are in the same ball park, but...the 85/15s and 58/15s are definitely the cleanest, clearest, most bell-like pickups PRS has ever made. I have guitars with both. And yeah, I would call them pretty bright pickups.

I like the 57/08s a lot better than the HFS and other older PRS pickups, too, and I get what you're saying about its tone quality.

I had a Chainsaw for awhile, just to try. It was pretty bright to my ears. I sold it for a grossly high price. :D

As for the current offerings, I found the DGT to be fairly bright. I also found the full-size 408 to be a little bright, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a small EQ adjustment.
