I've had my SE Custom 22 "Santana yellow" semi-hollowbody for awhile now but just noticed this recently. My high E string, after I play the open string and then stop it, still rings afterwards. If I push down on the portion of the string between nut and tuning post, it stops. Then I noticed the nut is lower on the high E side than on the low E side, and the high E has very little break angle from nut to post. The nut itself is about 16/64" high on the low E side, and 13-to-14/64" on the high E side. This makes for a shallower break angle. Perhaps this is typical of electric guitars, but I'm not sure. To defeat the "after ring", should I have a new nut put on? Add a string tree? Something else? Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.
