Hi
How can I verify if a fretboard is Brazilian Rosewood? It is not documented on the hangtag of a Singlecut I am buying. It was custom ordered in 2007 by a dealer, per the seller.

Any insight is helpful
Thanks
Monte

Brazilian has no hair at all.

Thank you, but I don't know what MODCAT means :)

The MODCAT is a code that lists pretty much all the info you need about the guitar. It should be on the hangtag and the case, but it's always under one of the pickups.

What you're looking for is a B in the eighth character of the MODCAT - that indicates Brazilian RW.

It’s a code found under the pickup that contains details of the guitar. As @ElrytNamrogo has said in his post, send the code to PRS customer services and they can decode it for you.

The MODCAT can also be found on the side of the original PRS case, if the guitar came with it and the sticker hasn’t fallen off.
