to sit on the porch and play my acoustic. Man, playing outside changes the sound as the guitar sounds anemic with bare fingers. I may need to "Man-up" and play harder our go back to medium strings.

I lost my pick skills when I took the 17-year break(yes, I play the electric's with my fingers)and never had a pick on my person on the few occasions I went into a store.

I've also noticed the Tonare sounds "off" in DADGAD with older light gauge strings(30 days).

I came from the opposite side of the tracks, played only with a pic for years and then 3 years ago decided it was time to start playing with my fingers. I have definitely noticed that playing with a pic adds volume compared to playing with fingers (at least given my style of playing)

I, too, started with a pick and only do acoustic stuff on the acoustic(more chordal things with electrics).
