Bought a pre-owned PRS SE Fredrik Akesson

I bought my PRS 1.5 weeks ago but have only just managed to find time to sit down with it for a extended session. Loving it so far but I do intend to replace the stock pickups and electrics. I've already purchased the Seymour Duncan Slash pickups for it.

I did notice today that either the previous owner or the guitar shop have clearly made a error when restringing the guitar :) I'll be getting a full pro setup done when I get the new pickups fitted.

No adjustment tools were provided with the guitar and the bridge shows signs of someone having used a screwdriver to adjust it rather than the correct Tonepros wrench, I'll hopefully be able to buy one for future adjustments.

The stringing error can be seen here:

Talk about string wrap!
I think my old one is still hanging on the used wall @ GC.... hope it gets a good home soon.

Enjoy customizing and rocking your NG! :top:

Always been an SE model I thought was really cool. Have never actually seen one in person :(

Happy NGD! I grabbed an Akesson over a year ago and it quickly became my #1. It has a lot of bells and whistles that just put it a step up from the other SE models. With a set of PAF style pickups it's pure heaven... I've always wanted to try the Alnico II Pro set, they sound killer in every demo I've heard, so I think you'll be a very happy camper when they come in! Looking forward to hearing about it!

I had my local guitar shop restring it for free today as it was them who had fitted the strings incorrectly. I think I'll upgrade the nut when I get everything else installed, what would people recommend I choose for it?

Next task is to find a hard case that this guitar will fit inside of, none of those I looked at today were suitable.

Does anyone know which of the Black Tusq XL nuts I should buy for the Akesson? The measurements for each nut on the website don't exactly match the size I measured on my PRS.

I got a black tusq nut on eBay for my SE Custom 24, it was labeled as an exact fit for SE guitars and it worked perfectly. Sanded it down to proper height and was ready to install.

I'll finally be taking my PRS to my local guitar store this week to have some upgrades done. I've decided that alongside having the SD pickups fitted I'll also have the wiring redone to vintage spec with CTS 500k pots and Orange Drop or bumblebee caps. I'll also be having the nut replaced with either Tusq or bone.

The nice people at TonePros sent me the adjustment tool for the bridge without any charge. Wonderful customer service.
