Your mom.
I heard Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" this morning and I remembered just how freaking blisteringly-hot the guitar solo is in that song (guitarist: Hugh Burns)--iconic saxophone melody notwithstanding, of course.

What other songs strike you has not being particularly rockin' but have insanely hot solos? I'd offer the following off the top of my head:

Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty (Hugh Burns)
One of These Nights - Eagles (Don Felder)
Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross

PS. I just realized--are they all "yacht rock?" Hmm...

yer in Umphreys McGee) is doing paid lessons on livelessonmasters.com. I didn't take note of other PRS artists but there could be more.

The intro solo to Desperate People by Living Colour. Its such an amazing short solo that revs up but the song is just not at blistering at that solo
Looking for Love by King's X. Probably one of my favorite solos and while I love the song as well again the solo just blazes past the rest of the song
