Sorry for such a basic thing but my push/pull tone knob on my ME is loose and every time I split the coils it falls off. What is the best method to get this back on properly?
Use a flat blade screw driver to widen the split on the shaft. The SE's do have the split end shaft, correct?Sorry for such a basic thing but my push/pull tone knob on my ME is loose and every time I split the coils it falls off. What is the best method to get this back on properly?

That’s NOT what she said.A small adjustment on the shaft goes a long way!

This is the fix for split shaft pots. Be gentle, however. It doesn’t take a lot to break off one side and then, if you do, the pot must be replaced.Use a flat blade screw driver to widen the split on the shaft. The SE's do have the split end shaft, correct?

Or this.I have a fix. A small piece of plastic, glued into the gap of the spline and the piece that has snapped off and voila! No need for a new pot.
I know because we had to do this for my cousins guitar recently. Just make sure that your knob fits before applying adhesive and allow it to dry fully.
