Christmas season is here but for me, it is feeling different this year because of this pandemic. My parents are vulnerable to this virus so they are doing isolation and I'm afraid to come over because I am working as a frontliner.

So to some of us here who want to avoid feeling lonely this Christmas, what would you think would be the best gift to yourself? I know we love PRS guitars, but how about something more specific? :)

How about something on the other end of the cord? PRS amps were a revelation to me in 2020. Go for an HX/DA, or maybe a DG or Archon or even a Blistertone, depending on your style. Get loud for Christmas!

I went in the other direction. For a few years, I’ve posted a guitar piece a day for 12 days of Christmas. This year I decided to make a donation to a charity picked by the first person to name the song. If I can’t visit my friends, supporting their causes might be a decent compromise.

That's a good idea. Usually this time of year I make my charitable donations. There are many worthy causes out there. Helping others who are not as fortunate is a good gift to oneself.

Here is a link to a site that can help you determine what charity to give to. Unfortunately there are some charities that are not as good at getting your donation to those who need it. https://greatnonprofits.org/

Very Nice !!!!!

I'm going where the others have gone. If you want to keep the blues away, a gift to yourself will not do it. A gift to someone else will. Serve dinner at a homeless shelter. Surprise a poor family with gifts for the kids and a turkey for Christmas dinner for the parents. Donate the money you would have used to buy a guitar to a charity that actually uses the money for the poor (Samaritan's Purse is a good one). Surprise your parents with a gift of fruits, or a cornucopia of breads and cheeses on their front door step when they get up Christmas morning. Or a basket of an assortment of coffee's from around the world. Wines from small vineyards. Beers from micro-breweries. So many things you can do that are unusual.

That will bring you the Christmas spirit.

Other than the usual wish for health and happiness it is just coincidental that my new boat I ordered a couple months ago came in and I should be signing papers right before Xmas. This isn’t mine but is identical, 2021 Nitro Z20 Pro Package. Seriously can’t wait for spring to break in the engine and start fishing it. I know some of you fish and can appreciate it. Gonna have to Resuscitate the fishing thread come springtime.

My youngest daughter has been playing elf to people in the neighbourhood. The area has been particularly hard hit economically. Most days she has dropped off a small package on someone’s porch. It might include socks, ice cream, coffee, energy bars, chocolate. Yesterday it included a bottle of champagne for a couple who got engaged. It might be the only thing preserving her sanity in their current lockdown - scheduled to last into the new year.

Awesome, times two!

Warms my heart to see random acts as posted here.
For me personally, I have given myself quite enough Christmas presents throughout this entire year, probably too much, so I am done with presents for me for the year.

My parents are both in their 80's. A couple years ago, my wife and decided to renovate our downstairs into a mother-in-law for both of my folks. we have been helping them stay isolated this year by doing all of their grocery shopping and picking up medications, etc. so far so good!
We always try and provide them (against their wishes) with a good Christmas every year with presents.

For others outside our family, my wife and I are blessed to be able to work through our church to give back to local homeless or low income families.
During Thanksgiving, we work with our church and select how many families we want to support. Then my wife and I go purchase all of the groceries needed for the families we selected to support on Thanksgiving, minus the turkey which is provided to the families thru the church by a local food bank.
For Christmas, it's the same as Thanksgiving, but in addition to groceries, we also add in picking out how many children to sponsor. We pick the age group and how many kids and then we go shopping for Christmas presents for them.

It's been a challenge this year with Covid and grocery shopping and the Christmas presents we decided to do most of it online.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I did some extra charity giving and made sure I check in on my folks much more !!!
For me I am always looking but not really finding anything the REALLY speaks to me.
I did just get a used Weber Mass 200 , so I could play the Fender Vibrolux without tearing my head off :)
spoiled by amps with master volume controls.
