Some of the most amazing looking PS creations, and some that maybe took a more "comical" turn:

The tiger, owl, and eagle sure took me off guard.

Someone posted, but deleted, that they felt bad about the carving artist. I don't if the artists were given total liberty on the appearance of the 'animal'

The only carved one I actually liked a lot (but still wouldn't want to own) is the snake one. Viewed from this angle it looks downright scary:

Love that one. Awesome.

And the big Dragon... I’ll take two of those.

Imagine these guys were the authority on the best and worst private stocks...

They seem pretty spot on here, not that it was a very tough choice to begin with for the ones they showed.
It's however suspiciously classless for a store to make that video while many of those guitars are still for sale (at a competing store no less).
Edit: on top of that it's also a bit weird for a PRS dealer to put up that kind of video to begin with.

Maybe we're misunderstanding the intent of these builds though. If I were willing to acquire a 'uniquely' carved top PRS I would most certainly get that eagle blue top one, just to get a hysterical laugh every time I pass by it.

I believe this video to be in poor taste and worsened by the fact that is a dealer.

A big shout out to all the dealers who have more integrity than to undermine the art, and very likely the dreams, of the brands they sell, the dealers they share space with, and the customers they serve.

This x1000!!!!

I’ve seen some of Floyd Schulz’s work up close. You may have too if you’ve been to the PRS front office at Experience. My understanding is that the carved eagle statue in the front is a second from Schulz’s work. I personally didn’t believe it, the work is sensational. I can’t imagine the skill it takes to carve wood like that. One thing is also for certain: the piece of wood itself has quite a bit to say about how it will take a carving owing to its grain structure and integrity. I’m sure the end result is often a negotiation. Schulz and PRS are pure talent melded in these instruments. No one needs to like them, but their artistry speaks for itself, and for a dealer to degrade that having been given the relationship of trust to represent them is juvenile.

Probably my favourite PS guitar in terms of pure art. I much prefer this than any intricate inlay, as each carving is hand made and a genuine on-off, not something that can be machine CNC replicated. Once the artist retires, it will truly be a limited. Oh and the colors, texturing and detailing are not too shabby either...

I don’t think most people can carve and paint a potato, much less hard wood.

That’s just pure unmitigated talent...

All of those are incredible, they do however illustrate well the challenges and inherent limitations posed by 'flattened' carvings.

As for the video, it just should never have come from a dealer and certainly not from a PRS dealer.
Will be curious to see what Private Stock they come up with, if they ever do after this.
