Thanks to Corey at Brian's Guitars for working the deal on this one! I had been watching and waiting for one of these to become available used...my Mesa F-50 is just too loud for condo living. This thing screams! The tag says it is equipped with 6L6 tubes... I was unaware of this being an option. Anybody got any info on that? I've been playing around with the Bogner Burnley and KTR pedals in front of this and the tones are amazing!

Very nice!
I think they were only equiped with the 5881s when they first came out, I like the option of the 6L6 tubes.
May pick one of these up sometime as I do not have any PRS amps yet.

A 5881 is also called a 6L6WGB in US nomenclature. It's a smaller tube than a standard 6L6 GC, has a little less output and less headroom, but many of the same sonic characteristics. However, the difference between a 6L6 GC and a 6L6 WGB in some manufacturers' tubes was only the size of the glass bottle.

In many amps, the two kinds of tubes are interchangeable with a bias change, though in some amps they are not due to the voltages in the amp.

In any case, you might want to check the tubes to see if they're 6L6 WGB or 6L6 GC just for grins. If they're WGBs, that's the same thing as a 5881.

I had a Marshall JTM30 with 5881s. The only Marshall I have heard that had great cleans...

Nice! That's my go to amp at a certain music store near me and I always enjoy playing thru the baby brother of my 100 watters. I'd really like one for a quick grab and go amp, but would be completely unnecessary for me.

What's "necessary" got to do with it? ;)
