Basic questions about PRS Studio

Hi, I just purchased my second PRS guitar, a PRS Studio built in 2012 that I purchased used online. The other is a CE-22 with stoptail, they're both awesome guitars but I really wanted the tremolo which is why I bought the Studio.

Regarding the tremolo, one big difference from my other tremolo guitars is that the bend up range is only about half a step, then the bridge hits the body and can't go any further. I'd really like about a step and a half, is this possible? I haven't gotten into the back of the guitar yet to check it out but it seems that if the bridge stuck out further then it would have more clearance. Is that something that I'd change by adjusting the claw or spring tension? Presumably if that's the case I'd have to reset the action, etc. Assuming it's possible what are the downsides?

Also, I'd like to put my regular strings, Ernie Ball Power Slinky on the Studio. They range from .011 to .048, assuming proper setup should these strings work okay with the Studio bridge?

There's one other thing about the guitar that puzzles me. It seems like a Studio in every way (22 fret, pickup configuration, etc), but the badge on the headstock (that covers the truss rod adjusting screw) says Custom 24. The Studios I've seen online say Studio on the badge. Anyone know what's up with that?

Thanks in advance!

PRS trems don't pull up as far as some trems or Floyds. There's no way I know of to change the way the bridge sits without screwing up the guitar.

You could have the PTC modify the guitar for an up-rout, or for a Floyd. That can easily be done.

Unfortunately for you, it's one of those check-before-you-buy situations re: the stock bridge.

Thanks LSchefman for the info about the tremolo. So, any idea what's up with the Custom 24 badge on a Studio? I find that quite curious.

Whoever owned it before you swapped the truss rod cover with the TRC for a Custom 24 would be my guess.

Late but yeah. I turned my Studio's TRC over the DAY I got her. Big old bright white kindergarten style script just makes the whole guitar look cheap...imho. Mine now has a nice eagle in mop and abalone but if I had had a CU24 TRC I would have put that on it.
Then there's the Les Paul Studio which everyone knows is a BUDGET paul. Not that I really care what other people think but it made ME think my guitar was ugly with it. Aapparently so did the original owner of yours.
LOVE the Studio btw.

Studio a "budget" prs?? That's a stupid comment as it's 3200 and falls in the range as many others. Ask your mom to buy you a SE that you can mod. That's about you will have I'm sure

Regarding the step and a half bend up range; I seem to remember PRS says on the setup page that the tremolo should be set up so it can do a whole step - so your guitar seems to not be set up properly. But a step and a half is out of the range, I think.

+1...for most you should be able to push the back of the trem down to the body and get an F# on the open low E string.
