I've rewritten a track I posted earlier in the week. I also renamed it. The title is now 'Ascent'.

And...I'm happy with it.

It just takes time to learn how to do it. And therein lies the rub.

Who has the time?

Oh wait, I do. Unfortunately, one of the things about being a freelance composer is...downtime. What does one do with downtime? Well, I try my darnedest to get halfway decent at what I like to do..

Can music have a patriotic feel?

I think music can have a patriotic feel, and even a national style. Thinking of Ralph Vaughan Williams, as one example - so British!

Not that my work is anywhere in the same league. However, I wasn't thinking about patriotic themes in this one, I was just thinking about interesting notes to play over various harmonic voicings.

There are times I don't actually think about what I'm doing, I just do it and see what happens.
