Do the artist signature models alienate anyone? I've seen some posters that aren't keen on having an artist name on the headstock.

Just wondering what the divide between artist models and the standard models are? Or if it's not even a consideration?

(I did google to see if this had been covered before but couldn't find a match)

On the US models that I have, the name was on the truss rod cover. I left Marks name on my Tremonti, but switched the TRCs on my DGT & Navarro with the forum TRC. Problem solved.

The artist name on a guitar wouldn't bother me a bit.

Heck, even the venerable Les Paul is an artist guitar with someone else's name on the headstock.

In fact, I have HX/DA (Hendrix/Allman) and DG30 (David Grissom) amps, and could care less if their names or initials are on the amps, as long as they sound good!

The artist named Paul Reed Smith has his name on almost every headstock that isn't covered by some other artist. I fail to see a difference.

So I guess you guys are just looking at specs? Does the Artist input in the guitar design make the guitar better than their standard counterparts? I personally like the lower price tag of the standard guitars.

The artist input and resulting change in specs is the the primary reason I purchased those specific guitars. The Navarro offered a 24 fret guitar with different control layout than my Custom 24, plus white and gold is classic. My DGT has the best fretboard IMHO and different controls. I didn't change the TRCs to remove the artists name, it was my desire to use the awesome PRS Forum Covers I ordered when they were availible. Really the choice is yours to make. Dig deep into the specs and do the research to decide which model suits your personal needs. Also go to your local guitar shop and play the models, nothing beats a hands on test drive!

Buy the guitar that does the job you need it to do. That is most important. Decorations are secondary.

They're not "better." They're just different, and offer different features.

But one of them may turn out to be better for you. Or not. Depends if you like the features.
