Artist IV

Hi, does anyone else have a problem with the wing style machine heads on an Artist IV? I can't seem to get consistency with the locking. I follow the instructions (I think) faithfully and there is always one string that doesn't want to lock properly. Can anyone help with advice?

Is it the G-string? (Settle down boys and girls) that's the one that gives me the most issues.

Thanks for the video. I probably didn't pull hard enough. One wonders if this is really an improvement on previous designs.

It took a little while to master them, but then I LOVED 'em...then they got rid of 'em!!!!! #$%^&#$%^&!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of folks felt it was an improvement (I did, too), the cam locked the string in place. Sometimes the unwound strings would slip a little, so you do have to pull them tight.

Changing a set of dead strings in a session, or at other times, went much faster. However, the Phase II and III machines are easier to work and less fiddly. They’re just less awesome as far as machinery goes. Those Phase I machines with the wings were a big deal.

Artist IV is an extremely rare bird. Congrats on owning one. Did you buy it new?
