Archtop Pickups Specs

To get Mikey’s sound from Morning View era you really do need the Archtop. They just have their own super thing going on.

I didn’t think that Mike used the stock Archtop pickups. I thought they were Seymour Duncan’s (jb & 59???)

I love my Archtops for incubusy stuff. And the stock Archtop pickups were always fine with me. I especially love that Archtop neck pickup and wished they were still the standard.
That’s what I’m trying to figure out - I’ve seen a lot of people mention the 59 but I can’t find any concrete evidence anywhere saying that he used it for sure 🤷🏻‍♂️. I wonder if his Hollowbody II used a 59 but the archtop had the stock pickups? Circles sounds dirtier with more treble than something like nice to know you, wish you were here or warning? May be a different mic position too but the 2 distortion tones sound different to my ears? No idea for sure though, just a hunch 😅

I compared my PRS Hollowbody II with Archtop pickups to a Gibson S400 and a Gibson Florentine. Both Gibson guitars have a classic highly articulate specific dynamic tone, a classic suitable for jazz. I was a little disappointed that I wouldn't get this out of my PRS. The guitar is too "bloated" and "boos" especially in the bass, where the tone is indistinct, muddy. I didn't mind it on the treble strings, it has a more modern sound more into the blues. An experienced professional guitarist advised me: don't change the pickups, sell the guitar and buy something else, like a Gibson 335 :) The PRS Hollowbody is a one-of-a-kind piece and I want it. But the over-bass sound has bothered me for a long time. Any advice? Is it even a pickup truck? I don't want to change pickups too much, but if I do, what should I choose? I tend to gravitate more into blues, I don't play orthodox jazz... Thank you for any advice :)
