I've got a McCarty Archtop II that needs a new bridge, I've eaten through parts of the metal & now it's rattling like an old can of spray paint. GOLD hardware, sticking with gold -- but, which one to get? PRS wants 3 bills for theirs, I can't afford that right now. The Gotoh 510 looks nice to me, can I just drop it in? What is best - tonally & economically?

I like the way these look:

I do NOT like the way these screws stick out the bottom:

Perhaps you can get one machined from unplated brass from one of the aftermarket sellers. That way you get the look, the tone, and the durability.

If you can find the specs on those ugly screws, you might be able to find shorter Allen screws that fit and disappear inside the holes. Heck, maybe Fender saddle screws would work.

Yup...hit Home Depot or Lowes screw aisle...they have drawers of different screws. Just take one of the longer screws with you and they should be able to find shorter screws with the same thread...
