Anyone know the story on the contrasting colors PRS is doing on the Archtop backs? Can't decide if I'm into it or not.

I'd love to know this too, I'm not a fan of those more colourful ones but I'll never be able to afford one, let alone do one justice.

Plus it's not my company, so the only say in this matter is having a minor BF on this forum (thanks Serg for that term!)

I'm glad they're not all like that though, that Honey Gold Burst one is freaking awesome.

It's a bit jarring with the plain top and the atomic dayglow backs ;)

I like them both...not sure how I feel about them together...wouldn't throw one out of bed for eatin crackers, though...

It's a little strange for sure. Seeing the plainer spruce top paired with the blue tourmaline back was not what I was expecting. I think they would look absolutely beautiful if they came paired with a maple top as well, but I'm sure tonally spruce is what they were going for.

I'm not meaning for this to be a "rip thread". I think they're kinda cool cause it's unexpected when you flip it over. Archtops are generally traditional looking guitars so I found it interesting they went as non traditional as they did.

I think you hit the target here: traditional in the front view; crazy, sexy, cool rear view. I kind of like that stealth 'I can be my own thing' outlook.

Say it isn't so...that would be mortifying.
In my mind I was seeing a hot babe on the red carpet that was subdued from the from, but had a plunging backless dress with...well, use your imagination.

Oh no... It's already out there, I can't take it back. My imagination is leaning towards:

New for 2016 PRS introduces the Mulletback: All business up front and party in the back. :p

It's definitely fun to flip it around and see customer reactions at the shop!
I like the idea of seeing a player in a serious jazz band flip that baby around between sets. Definitely be an attention grabber! I'd definitely be going to talk to them about the guitar post show. That would be a good thing .

I think of them kind of like those red carpet celebrity dresses -- normal, covering front, all the way up to the neckline, but controversial, plunging open all the way down the back.

I'll take one in purple or violet or magenta, when I get around to it. Hopefully that will be an option.

now I would never flip it around. I'd make them have to notice for themselves, maybe the sides when they walked by, maybe a peak of the back when I turned around t tell the drummer to pick it up.
Or if was serious enough that I was sitting on a stool, I might spin around once in a while. I like spinning. I discovered it's a good way to hear how an acoustic projects in a listening room.

Right. Spin around, set it on the guitar stand. I didn't mean the 80's Rock move where they'd have something written on the back of the guitar:)

I'd love to see a jazz guy rocking out like that. Maybe throwing in some Pete Townshend "windmills" too!

You just described the guitar equivalent of a mullet hairdo.

Hey, I met Lesteban on vacation in Acapulco around 1980. He had a mullet and a shiny silk disco shirt. Mullets are cool! (my kids think this picture is hilarious)

Ya know, after picturing it in my head, it would be rather entertaining. Unexpected, like the color on the back of the guitar. Like randomly being "flashed" by a beautiful woman. Alright, count me in. I'm into the idea:D
