Does anyone know if I can use an 8 ohm speaker in my Archon 50, if I change the impedance selector to 8 ohm? In other words, does the selector work on the internal speaker? (I.e when there is no extension cab) Will the Archon work with any speaker, as long as you set the corresponding impedance on the selector?

I had a peavey that worked that way but you had to plug the internal speaker into the external jack. Not sure if this is similar....

The back of the amp says "internal speaker 16 ohms." I guess that means it shipped with a 16 ohm, not it has to have one.

I checked with PRS and you are correct. They said "If you changed the internal speaker to an 8ohm speaker you would want to switch to the 8ohm setting."

These are such great amps! I don't know why anyone would buy anything else!

I actually have other amps. But I have two PRS amps and am fighting the urge to get two more. I will say that after really putting the time in with my Archon, I was able to sell two other fantastic amps with no regrets.
