I saw the Dave Weiner Archon 50 demo in another thread, and he seems to show the clean channel having a fair amount of dirt when cranked.

Is the 100 also supposed to do this?

Mine absolutely stays clean unless I crank all the knobs all the way up and bang on he guitar in bridge pickup mode as hard as possible. even then it's super subtle.

Tried replacing the clean channel tube with a known good one, and no diff.

It really seems like a pre-amp thing, at 3:45 or so in the video he talks about dime-ing the clean channel to get the breakup, his master is at noon, so it doesn't seem like it would be the power section.

Noon is a LOT for this amp. I run the channel masters near zero and it's loud.
That's a really good point, I run the master at about 3pm, but as it's pre-loop, I control the volume on the return, I'll unplug the board, wait until I'm the only one in the house and give it a go! =)

The 100 is all headroom. You might try switching it to 50W mode.

This was exactly it, in 50 watt mode, master at noon, with my loop out of the mix, it sounded pretty much identical to the video!

Thanks for the tip @elvis, now I know the clean can do that retro crunch thing!

Loud enough that I didn't want to try it at 100 watts!

Loud enough that it sounded better to my ears when played from another room. Although that might have been when I dimed the master volume as well, lol.

Was that before, or after, the plaster started falling off the walls? :D
