There is a decent (not spectacular) deal on these right now...I generally use the PRS and D'Addario strings (EXL110s). Price is good enought to maybe try...

Anyone our here try/use the DRs? From what I read, the pure nickels may be a bit darker than what I am used to with the EXL110s.

Years and years ago I went through a phase where I used them on my Strat, but they really just sounded like broken-in D'Addarios to me.

I used em on my Strats for a while also and they were great in that application but I never cared for them on shorter scale guitars for some reason. I think, yes, they are a bit darker sounding than what you are used to. Excellent quality though, so I definitely recommend trying them out to see if you like 'em.

please let me in where the deal is at as well, my cursed hands will only take pure nickels....if not, in matter of seconds, they will rust like no other

Gush, tyt921 - just got a flyer, GC has them buy 2 for 12.58, get one free if I read correctly, which is just under $4.20 a set, pretty good deal it seems from regular price.

Thanks Carl for the information.

I did some quick research, it seems most brand also makes these pure nickles strings. As well as Ernie Ball, and D'addario. Not to add more problems but theres a new material called cobalt?

Carl, I used to use them almost exclusively. I still do on my SE CU24, because it's a brighter guitar and they tame the highs a bit. I was also using them on my Akesson, but I switched to Tite Fits because that guitar is much warmer sounding and they added just a touch of twang... kerrang... something to the tone to liven it up to a "just right" level.

Trems tend to be brighter in my experience, so give them a shot on one of your trem guitars! They're fantastic strings, it's just about using them on the right axe.

Thanks for the heads up CantankerousCarl, I use the nickle DR to help tame the high frequency fizziness my 5150 seems to have. They also seem to be tougher to break, I think.

Looks like the three pack is two nickles and one coated for 11.99. Does that look right? Bummer, I won't use the coated strings.

Bummer. They were doing that deal last time I bulked up on strings, I didn't do it for the coated strings, only because it was a few cents cheaper than two individual sets of Pure Blues.

Since they came with the PB's I tried a set of the coated on my buddy's axe... they sounded pretty awful. Like rubber bands. But my buddy is a drummer that changes his guitar strings every 3 years, so they'll last him forever and he'll never know the difference anyways! :D :D :D
