Anyone else unable to play since getting COVID?

Yeah, I'm dying to know what job he had in life that required him to type like that. Most disconcerting to read.
 
I got it very early on in Vegas prior to it being declared a pandemic. I had weird headaches and lost 30 lbs in 2 weeks, mostly because I had no desire to eat. The good news is I have no lasting effects that I’m aware of. I will continue to take the vaccines as long as ALL of my MD friends continue to take it themselves.

It does seem the severity of Covid has lessened somewhat. I know a people, including a good friend just last week, who have tested positive, and only symptoms were a cough and was achy for a couple of days. 🤒

Tons of evidence pointing to the inefficacy of the vaccines, as well as injuries caused by them. Literal lies were told. You just have to watch information sources other than CNN & MSNBC. And that's all I'll say about that, I don't come to music forums to talk medicine. Oh and you'll likely have to use a search engine other than Google to find it LOL.

This is something we need to be talking about more.. news anchors are nothing more than paid actors. It's a sad day when the weatherman is the most accurate of the bunch!

Google, isn't a modern day card catalog. It's surprising to me how many people don't realize Google manupilates results or even notices the little ad icon by the pay per click. SEO optimization anyone? We are Googles product.

The information is out there but we shouldn't have to hunt for the facts without color.

The written word, as well as people various communities regard as leaders (whether civil or religious) can easily convince us of any idea, no matter how preposterous. Combine their words into speaking and writing and anything can happen.

As if these opinions held the key to the ultimate knowledge of the universe! Immutable principles are simply ideas that've been bought into, all-too-easily discarded when the next set of immutable principles come along.

All systems, whether political, religious, economic, or cultural, depend on the ability of a few people to exercise a varying degree of control over the thinking and behavior of a lot of people, by getting these communities to accept their opinions.

And not just accept them, but accept them vehemently, passionately, even dangerously.

"We won't get fooled again," almost never happens. Belief in some perceived truth or other creates cognitive dissonance whenever 'the others' offer words different from the 'we'. Hence, conflict.

Few people admit, "This is my opinion," when it comes to the big stuff. We say, "This is the truth."

[cue angelic chorus singing 'ahhhhh']

It's a good thing I'm an objective philosopher and know everything so I can enlighten everyone, right? 🤣

I did dig. I have a friend that is DEEP in the conspiracy theory belief on this one. Every time he posts something about "another athlete just dropped dead" it is a news story that tracing it finds no real facts. It's in some other country, some person whose name trace yields nothing, etc. So yeah, I've looked for facts, but they seem VERY hard to find. Now, claims are a dime a dozen and I've got a lot of dimes. But proof of those claims as been extremely hard to find actual proof of.

My other issue has been stated before. I've known multiple people who died from covid, and in 63 years I've never known anyone who died from "the flu" so while it is a virus, it's not the same. And, I'm not a moron. I know that what they call a vaccine was never an actual vaccine, which would prevent you from catching the virus.

Looking up actual facts on covid are like looking up actual facts on politicians. You fan find whatever you want to believe, and find thousands of reports, articles etc. to support it, but 99% of it is from an agenda pusher and can't be trusted. Which seems to be the problem with most things these days where you want actual information.
 
I did take the 2 Moderna shots and a booster. Not because I was worried or paranoid into getting it, but more so because I wanted the people around me to feel safe, as I have people in my life who will always more so watch a lot of TV and let whatever mass distributed information make them feel insecure. Yea, I got Covid at least twice anyway. Would it have been way worse without the Vax? Or would I not have survived without the vax? Who knows right? I don't personally think it saved or rescued me from anything, but when people find that what is perceivably good for the collective is in theory good for everyone I try to be of service or not bring down the collective. That being said I do not absorb everything from media or politics as the gospel while trying to shut down or censor other ways of thinking,
 
I asked my doctor this early on. He said he took the exact same one I did and wouldn't recommend it if he was afraid to take it himself.

That said, I've had no further boosters and probably won't.

Part of the decision “to or not to” is determined by age and circumstances.
1. If I were younger, I wouldn’t be as concerned, and
2. If my wife* didn’t have lung cancer, I’d be more reluctant.

* Never smoked, eats like a rabbit, and walks 5 miles daily. Who said life was fair?
 
I am open to any information on this topic. As I said, everything you read as "fact" seems to have other information available as "Fact" that completely contradicts it. After a while, you just stop trying. And yes, it is frustrating to try to wade through the agenda crap, and find some actual truth.

My wife and I have both had some "after effects" but is it from covid (each had it twice... at least) or the vaccine? My doctor listed some after effects of covid for me before the first time I had it and I didn't get it until one year after I got the first shot. I have one of the side effects soon after having covid, that definitely wasn't there in the year after the shot. I realize the limited scope of that example.

This is correct. Big Pharma and the CDC included.

And Fauci has literally been shown to be a liar, in front of Congress even. But just like all those in power, nothing will come of it.

Funny how the government can say "oops, made a mistake" and it's no harm/no foul, but if any normal person tried to lie to the govt and got caught, they WOULD be punished. Makes me sick.
 
Recipe please! But don't make it humble pie, that would just be rude (though I am uncertain to whom) ;~))

Ingredients​



  • Homemade Pie Crust or All Butter Pie Crust (both recipes make 2 crusts, 1 for bottom and 1 for top)
  • 4 and 1/2 cups halved & quartered pitted fresh cherries (see note)
  • 2/3 cup (135g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (28g) cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 Tablespoon (14g) cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • egg wash: 1 large egg beaten with 1 Tablespoon (15ml) milk
  • optional: coarse sugar for sprinkling on crust

Instructions​


  1. The crust: Prepare either pie crust recipe through step 5.
  2. Make the filling: In a large bowl, stir the cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla, and almond extract together until thoroughly combined. Cover filling and place in the refrigerator as you roll out the pie dough or for up to 24 hours.
  3. Roll out the chilled pie dough: On a floured work surface, roll out one of the discs of chilled dough (keep the other one in the refrigerator). Turn the dough about a quarter turn after every few rolls until you have a circle 12 inches in diameter. Carefully place the dough into a 9-inch pie dish. Tuck it in with your fingers, making sure it is smooth. Use a slotted spoon to spoon and spread the cherries into the crust. Reserve the juice for the next step. Refrigerate pie, uncovered, as you reduce the juices in the next step.
  4. Pour the few Tablespoons of leftover juice into a small saucepan over low heat. Cook and stir for 3-4 minutes or until juice has slightly reduced and thickened. Cool for 5 minutes, then pour over cherries in filling. Do your best to gently toss together—doesn’t have to be perfect. The reduction will harden and thicken as a result of mixing with the cold cherries. This is normal and it will melt again in the oven. Dot the pieces of butter on top of the filling.
  5. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).

  6. Arrange the lattice: Remove the other disc of chilled pie dough from the refrigerator. Roll the dough into a circle that is 12 inches diameter. Using a pastry wheel, sharp knife, or pizza cutter, cut strips of dough—I cut four strips 2 inches wide and two strips 1 inch wide. Carefully thread the strips over and under one another, pulling back strips as necessary to weave. Press the edges of the strips into the bottom pie crust edges to seal. Use a small paring knife to trim off excess dough. Flute or crimp the pie crust edges with a fork.
  7. Lightly brush the top of the pie crust with the egg wash. Sprinkle the top with coarse sugar, if using.
  8. Place the pie onto a large baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Keeping the pie in the oven, turn the temperature down to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes or until the top crust is golden brown and the filling juices have been bubbling up around the edges or through the lattice/vents for at least 5 minutes. **After the first 20 minutes of bake time, I recommend placing a pie crust shield on the crust’s edges to prevent it from over-browning too quickly.**
  9. Remove pie from the oven, place on a cooling rack, and cool for at least 3-4 hours before slicing and serving. Filling will be too juicy if the pie is warm when you slice it.
  10. Cover leftovers tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes​


  1. Make Ahead / Freezing Instructions: There are a couple ways to make this pie ahead of time. Prepare the pie in full 1 day in advance—after pie cools, cover tightly and keep at room temperature. The pie crust dough can also be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Baked pie also freezes well for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature before serving. Prepared filling (with juices) can also be frozen up to 3 months, thaw overnight in the refrigerator before spooning into dough and reducing the juice.

  3. Cherries: You need about 1.5 lbs of cherries for this recipe. Cut half of the cherries into halves and the remaining half of cherries into quarters. Using a mix of halved and quartered cherries helps keep the baked filling in tact. You can use any variety of cherries. I use all dark sweet cherries in the pictured pie, but also enjoy using a 50/50 combination of dark sweet and Rainier cherries. Feel free to use all Rainier cherries if desired. If using sour cherries, increase sugar to 3/4 or 1 cup depending how sweet you like your pie. You can also use frozen cherries. Halve/quarter them while they’re frozen, then toss with other filling ingredients as instructed. Reduce the juices as instructed as well. Bake time may be a few minutes longer.
