Too close to the casinos in CT.........
I am a cigar fan and was wondering if anyone else is into them and might offer up what your favorites are so I might try them if I haven't already.

My favorites are La Gloria Cubana Series R #6 Maduro but I really like the Kristoff GC Signature series Churchill. In a pinch if these are not available I like an Onyx or an Acid Kuba Kuba.

We go to the Mohegan Sun casino regularly and they have a nice cigar store there with a lounge to sit and smoke with a drink while watching a game on the TV. What do you all smoke and where do you get to smoke em?

My normal, once a week smokes are the punch Rare Corojo and the Nub Connecticut.

But if I'm going to spend money, my favorites are the Dominican puros--Opus X, La Aurora Cien Anos (no longer made, I don't think), and Ashton ESG, among others.

If abroad in Cuban country, the Hoyo de Monterey Epicure #2 is my all time fave, with the Montecristo #2 a close second. But only buy Cubans at a licensed, reputable Habanos dealer--fakes are rampant.

I quit smoking cigarettes several years ago and I also gave up cigars because I wasn't sure if they would lead me back to smoking cigs again (gateway drug? LOL) But I did enjoy some La Gloria Cubana and Romeo Y Julieta back in the day.

When we were kids, we used to ride our bikes to the store and buy Swisher Sweets 'cause we thought it made us look cool, like Clint Eastwood in a Sergio Leone film. Skip forward a few decades and one of my brothers got big-time into cigars for a while. I tried but like Shawn I was worried about going back to cigarettes and no matter what brand or cigar I tried, including various authentic Cubans (bought in Habana), they all smell like you're smoking a dog turd.

Backwoods are a staple for me when I have a short drive and don't want to waste a good cigar that I know I won't finish. I hate to relight one if I can help it. The beryy flavored purple pack!

As for the smell of a cigar, yeah I get that it can be harsh for a non-smoker to deal with and I try to smoke alone or in a place that is tolerant of it like a cigar bar or in the car when I have a long drive. We cover all of New England in my region so a drive of two hours or ore is not unheard of and a good smoke passes the time well.

it is funny to me though that cigarette smokers, or worse even ex-cigarette smokers are the word complainers about cigar smoke smell. I laugh when someone makes faces at my cigar when they have a cig in hand that they have chain lit from another they were puffing on. :)

Unfortunately, I have a three a day cigar habit. My staple cigar is the Padron 3000, natural.

My humidor has Monte #2's and #4's, which are both high on my list. I've got a box of Cohiba Robustos, Siglo VI's and Maduro 5 Magicos in there as well. I buy in Cuba, or in Licensed shops up here. In non-Cuban smokes, I really like CAO's MX2, and Perdomo's Champagne Torpedo.

I do tend to like stronger smokes, and darker tobacco, but there are a few lighter ones like the Perdomo that I really enjoy. Macanudo has one that I really liked, but haven't been able to find since.

I'll try anything twice though... these are just my faves.

Do Backwoods count?
Sergio.. You AINT GONNA BELIEVE THIS..... My father in law, who left Cuba after Batista was overthrown, LOVES BACKWOODS!!!!!! HA.. He rolled cigars as a child in Cuba! No Foolin!

This is reminiscent of the "Coors" beer embargo..And people who could get Coors freely drank "Lone Star" ugh.

Perdomo is fast becoming my go to brand. I did, however, just finish an Arturo Fuente "between the lines" cigar this afternoon.
