I've seen a new PRS SE on Reverb that I'm considering but have some questions.

a) If you buy a new PRS from a European vendor do you give up the US PRS warranty?

b) Reverb shows I'd be paying local sales tax, but is there a US customs tax also?

Thx

So, I bought a non PRS UK built guitar from Peach Guitars a couple of years ago. It went from their store to my door in 3 days. Would have been a day sooner but it stalled for an extra day somewhere in the US. I did not have to pay VAT in the UK, and FedEx just required a signature upon delivery. However, later that month my FEdEx account was charged $174 for Import Fees. I would totally buy from them again.

You SHOULD not have to pay a duty on import of a guitar if it was originally made in the USA. But, as Reverb indicates, you do need to pay the sales tax. I cannot give you any assurance that some overly anxious person watching things coming in at Customs may not need some convincing. I would think the dealer could give you some comfort on that.

On the last couple guitars I did buy from the EU (made in Europe) there was no VAT. But in both cases, they were held up in Customs until they got confirmation that the duties had been paid in full They involved FedEx. In one earlier case, UPS showed up at the door to make the delivery and would not hand it over to me until I handed over something like $400 to the driver.
