Title says it all. Has anybody done this? Curious to hear what it did for your sound, and how it affected your playing. I know the 85/15 is more of a full-frequency pickup (more lows, highs, etc), and the JB has a bump in the upper mids. The JB is a recognizable lead tone, but the 85/15 is no slouch either. The 85/15 does a great coil split, and the JB has a good reputation for that as well. So knowing these things, I'm curious about how anyone used the JB differently than the 85/15 in the same guitar.

I had a JB/Jazz set in my SE Cu24. They sounded amazing. I like the JB pickup though. It takes a minute sometimes to dial in for some guitars but once it is, I'm a fan. The splits are some of the best but it's also a pretty hot pickup to split. I've read that if it's too much to go to a 250k pot, supposedly they were originally designed to work with 250k too. I'm in process of a HSH strat build with 250k pots so I can't say for sure.

If the 85/15 is S, I say go for it. If core I wouldn't, but I like the 85/15 core pups a lot.

Thanks. I do like the 85/15 quite a bit. What do you find that the JB allows you to do better than the 85/15? Better dirt tones, more vocal lead tone, etc? And how would you describe "dialed in" for the JB? I know it's different for everyone, so I'm pretty curious to get into the weeds on it.
