"Yum yum, eat 'em up!"
Anybody recognize the quote?
You in Denver?
Should have made tacos.
My brother-in-law lives about 30 minutes west of Iowa City. He got a pretty good haul last weekend.
Can't stop laughing... no idea why...
All mushrooms are edible.
Some only once!
I can't do it
We have a winner!
They look like little alien life forms!
Think what they thought when they saw me.
“Aghhh! Help me, I’m melting!”
Well, I did soak them in water.
As you picked them, I hope you said:
“I’ll get you my pretty!”
Do you realize how valuable these little morels are? I've personally tried growing these in a dedicated "mushroom square" with a windbreak to protect them from too much wind and direct sunlight. Never could get the little buggers to grow in Connecticut.
My brother regularly visits his dense woods out behind his property, and harvests morels and 'hens and chicks' when they are in season in early spring and early fall.
Because morels grow only randomly and you can't really know where they will grow, they're a rarity and are worth a lot of money! IIRC, a couple ounces of morels go for $60 to $80, maybe more. Enough to keep you in good scotch for a year easily.
And that's the morel of the story...
That’s morel ess a good pun.
